The next NASA Earthdata webinar,"Explore the Entire Earth, Every Day with
Satellite Imagery from NASA Worldview," will be held on Thursday, July 28,
2016 at 2pm EDT(GMT/UTC-4).
Learn how to explore Earth as it is "right now" with NASA Worldview! During
this webinar our speakers will show you how use the NASA Worldview application
to interactively browse over 200 global, full resolution satellite imagery
layers, discover natural phenomena with an easy map interface, and download
imagery and its underlying data for further analysis.
Speakers:
Ryan Boller is working to make NASA's rich archive of Earth observations more
visually discoverable and interactive. As the Data Visualization Lead for the
Earth Science Data and Information System project, he has helped to create
Worldview and the Global Imagery Browse Services (GIBS). He holds a
Bachelor's degree from Penn State University and a Master's from Brown
University, both in computer science.
Taylor Gunnoe has been working in web-related development for more than 12
years. Over the past 12 years he has created and helped to develop a variety
of web-related projects either by himself or as part of a software engineering
team. He now works as the Lead Developer on NASA Worldview, where he applies
his knowledge of everything from strong user-centric designs to cutting-edge
development. He also holds a Bachelor's degree in foreign language from West
Virginia University.

Webinar Title: Explore the Entire Earth, Every Day with Satellite Imagery from
NASA Worldview
Detailed Description:
Over the past 50+ years, NASA has built dozens of spacecraft to study the
Earth across a range of scientific disciplines. The data from these missions
is freely and openly available to the public and, in recent years, has been
made to be more discoverable in a Google Maps-like way. The Worldview web app
provides a visual interface to support a diverse array of applications
including wildfire monitoring, air quality research, education, and
illustration of natural events in the media. This webinar will demonstrate how
you can explore satellite imagery of any location on the globe within hours
after it was captured and then download the underlying data for further
analysis. For developers, we'll briefly discuss how Worldview's open source
code can be extended and how new clients can be built from the Global Imagery
Browse Services (GIBS). GIBS provides responsive and highly available web
services for almost 200 NASA satellite imagery products. We will also provide
a preview of Worldview's upcoming features and imagery products.
